I have a '99 Mystique with the V6 automatic, with 41K. I have recently noticed a roughness when it shifts into overdrive. It reminds me of driving over rumble strips. I believe I had a somewhat similar problem on a '94 Crown Victoria I owned. The Ford garage said I needed a new torque converter but a local garage said that was nonsense and just changed the fluid and it seemed to correct the problem. Other than this problem the vehicle has been trouble free. Any thoughts? confused

changing the fluid should be the first course of action when automatic transmission problems happen.

I had a similar problem with my 96 V-6. When there was a rough shift the OD light flashed on and off indicating a problem with the shift. The dealer said the selonoid body needed replacing which i did and it was fine for 2 years. Recently happened again, every day for three or four days. Checked with Ford and was told that the sensors sometime act up when it is damp out. Might want to get the sensor checked before any major tranny work.

I recommend that you get your transmission power flushed expecially if you have never had it done before. It works wonders....
