As the title says....I have no loss in driveability, good power, gas mileage is good. I have no explanation for this. How much is a scan tool to check a 1998 SVT? I would love to avoid the dealer if I can.
Cheers, Phil

I'm sure someone around you has a scanner they could hook up. Check with people in your local CEG area. I'm going to guess it's an O2 sensor though.

Some part supply stores (Autozone, maybe others) will check it for free.

If you have a computer or laptop, then I recommend Alex Peper's Vehicle Explorer (http://www.obd-2.com). The base model is around $122, but you might be able to find a group buy (or start one) which gets a 40% discount.

Thanks Phil!
BTW, I read your post about Campbell's being inflexible on price on the SVT Focus.
I have a feeling they are going to be stuck with those cars for a while!
At about $23K, a base SVT Focus would be a pretty solid deal, but at something approaching $29K, one's sanity might be questioned if one were to transact at that price.

Hi Guys!
I am in Ottawa as well and would really, really, love to meet someone with a scan tool so I can read what's going on with my 98 Mystique. I hate paying out good money only to have to fix one thing and read the next code a short while later. Please email me. What about a weekend small meet smetime ...

Intermittant CEL coming on and going out, is most often the 02 sensor. Should be fixed, but no engine damage is likely. Often a cleaner brand of gas will work.
