Terry,

You took the words out of me. If the master control panel (i.e drivers side) isn't connected, none of the other switches will work.

Experience from putting in door speakers.

I apologize for asking this question again but I didn't really get an answer the first time. But why do these cars have these electronic locks vs. the regular mechanical locks found in all other cars?

I have the same problem, I installed after market speakers and since then the power locks haven't worked! Has anyone found a solution?!
I also have a problem with the brake. everytime I let go of the brake it makes a popping noise. Does anyone know anything about this, or how to fix it?

Pull the driver's door apart again and check the harness connector to the power window switch. It sounds like it is not plugged in all the way (unless the main power wire was nicked.)

Is the popping coming through the speakers, or is it mechanical?

Thanks to everyone for their suggestions....
Well, I disconnected & reconnected the door "twist-loc" connectors, and sadly that didn't solve the problem.... I then took dthe door trim off to see if there was anything that had come unclipped inside, wiggled a few wires while pressing the switch, but to no avail. ho-hum.

Curiously, while checking some fuses over, I found that fuse #3 in the power distribution box under the hood is for the heater blower fan, not ABS as stated in the little Ford handbook that comes with the vehicle. As I have no ABS on my car, I had taken it out to keep as a spare, only to find my fan wouldn't work......!! confused

I was working on a '95 Contour yesterday and today for the power lock switch on the driver's door not working, but the passenger door switch was fine. The problem was corrosion inside the terminals of the twist lock connector in the driver's door jamb, as Terry mentioned. I had to replace several pins and do some wire splicing to get the problem repaired. Look in the female end of the connector and see if there is green corrosion in it. If so, that's what the problem is.

The remote locking also just stopped working on my 96 Mystique last night. What I found out, while checking all the connections on the control box, is that it would work if the remote was only a few inches from the receiver. When I pulled out the antenna wire from the box it would work from several feet away. I ohmed out the antenna wire (looking for a short), and even tried a substitute antenna wire, but once a plug was inserted into the center connector of the box back to zip range. I assume that something on the circuit board, where the connector is mounted, has opened.
I have to figure out how to get the control box out of its bracket, so I can open it up and fix it. At least it now works (with no antenna) if I'm standing next to the car.
