is it possible to move hvac controls? I have a 2000 and i was thinking of getting a pre 98 console and moving the radio down and putting the hvac controls under the radio were the door pocket thing is if it will fit so i can put a tv in the old spot. has anyone tried this? Thanks for your help.

I personally do not know if anyone has attempted this before. Having played with the HVAC, I'll tell you that this would be a very tedious task. The HVAC won't move more than 2-3 inches once it is unbolted. There seems to be a million wires attached to it, and all are tied together. To do this you would have to first separate them, then cut them off, and finally splice new, longer wires so that you could move the HVAC. This is a the first issue you have.

Next you would have to make a custom fitting of the existing HVAC to the location you want to move it.

BTW, installing a pre 98 center console is no easy feat either. All I can say is good luck, and unless you have the time and the patience to do this, I wouldn't go for it...

IIRC some of those "wires" are in fact vacuum lines. They don't take to travel very well.

yes it can be done...a guy at SZ had the pre 98 console and had moved the hvac below.
