let me start with my list of excuses before hand
1: synchros gone in second gear, have to baby shift (at least half a sec) 2: stock TB was in, but acting up 3: engine was being a dog cause it was hot out 4: clutch was slipping in 3rd and 4rth (not bad, but noticeable)
first run i launched at 3k rpm, it chirped the tires then bogged till 4k, r/t 1.01 60' 2.5 1/8 10.9 1/4 16.99 @ 80MPH
second run i dropped it at 5k and got major wheelspin, ddint help at all
r/t 0.531 60' 2.5 1/8 10.4 1/4 16.97 @ 81mph
so i was kinda pissed, cause i usually run high 15's low 16's, but the shifting was killing me, was dogging it at high revs too, bigger TB will help with that

I'm having the same problem It was my first time drag racing the contour. I'm trying to get practice on the back roads with everything.

damn those are terrible times and very low trap speeds. you just got some work done to the tranny, why didn't you replace the synchros. Is that a new clutch you put in? how do you like the phantom grip? I'm planning to hit the track on Oct 6, i think its the last street legal drag race of the year, it should be a lot colder by then.

so you had the stock TB on both runs, cuz i dont think there will be a big difference or power gain with the 65mm TB. your 60' time might go up. you will lose some low end power "I can feel it with my car" but it makes up on the high end(at least i think so; no dyno plots to back that up). i'm hoping to hit the dyno sometime soon, but i'm waiting for a buddy of mine too finish his car (240 w/ turbo and NOS) so we can go together. i really want to see his car hitting the 400s maybe 500s after tunning.

when i took my car to the shop they replaced the 3/4 synchros, but when i got it back, the 1/2 synchro was shot, and before they touched my car i never EVER had a problem shifting into second, i need to take it back and get them to fix it for me, cause they [censored] it up my clutch is finally hooking up though, and the phantom grip is really cool, pulls much better around the corners and i get more solid launches i just put the bottle back on as well, im goin on oct 6, if i dont hit low 15's with the bottle im gonna cry, i also have a CEL right now and i broke something, so my car is being a dog right now, retarded timing and running pretty rich, wich is actually good for spraying when my synchros get fixed i know my times will get much better

I dunno if I'd be racing my car if it had so many things that needed to be tended to. Don't get me wrong - I'll take any chance I can to get to the strip, but 1/4 miles are #2 priority for me with fixing broken stuff at #1. Take the test n tune fees and put them towards repairs.
Not much point in racing a wounded horse because all you are going to do is frustrate yourself with poor times. My 2 cents.
