There shouldn't be any welding or fabricatring LIMs. Its just the matter of staying with SVT or non for the entire intake system that your going to use. Its just not worth the price of trying to convert one over to the other. Why go thru the hassle of trying to bore out, change butterflies, and reassemble?

Because there is a big difference between the 95 LIM and the 96+ LIM due to the change from a vacuum operated IMRC system to the electronicly controled IMRC system on the later cars. I have an extra 95 LIM and have compared it to the 96+ and it's different. You can't just use a 96+ lower manifold on a 95 and expect it to work. How would you control the opening and closing of the secondaries if you did? There is no provision to add electronic control of IMRC to the 95's EEC IV ECU.

Well, there are only 3 ways to do have the SVT or 3L sized LIM on a '95. First is to modify the linkage, second is to just remove all the butterflies, third is possibly swapping the shafts and linkage from a '95 with the bigger butterflies. Like Bicycle019 said, they're controlled in two very different ways. '95 uses vacuum IMRC, and '96+ uses electrical IMRC.

I never saw the electric LIM for the 96+ And took for granted Ford used the same LIM with a retro-fit for the elc. actuator. How much of a difference is there?

Yes. The 95 is the only EEC-IV Contour. I'll try and dig up some pics later today of my 95 manifold and I know there are other pics of the 96+ version on BAT and SP Motorsports sites.

You're in for a deeper pile of crap going from Zetec to 3L Duratec. Everything has to be changed to go from Zetec to 3L Duratec.
