Well, my rear motor mount (one supporting the transmission)is shot. Having a ('95) 5 spd, how easy is it to put the new mount in? From looking at it, it doesn't appear to look too difficult, but I just want to make sure there aren't any other considerations that need to be made. Will I need a drive train alignment after doing any work? Also, if this mount has gone bad, I'm sure there is added stress on the other mounts. How difficult is it to change those too, if needed? Finally, what would be the best (considering quailty) mounts to buy for a daily driver.
I know this these are a lot of questions, but I don't want to cost myself more money then I want to spend fixing something that is not detrimental. THANKS

Haven't had to replace any of mine yet, but I think there is a FAQ or how-to on this off the CEG home page. Not a lot of choices except for SVT mounts which are stiffer. Don't know if that includes the one your talking about. IIRC, the one on the bottom that attaches to the sub frame requires a small jack and block of wood to lift/support the engine while the mount if pulled & replaced. Hope this helps.

you can replace the rear mount w/the SVT one as it's a direct bolt on. Much stiffer, around the same $$ from Bill Jenkins. Replacing the front mount w/the SVT one is a bit more difficult as the slots in the mount need to be enlarged a bit.

HERE ARE PICS FROM THE MAIN CEG PAGE that show the differences between the SVT and the 95' motor mounts.

will this added stiffness be a good thing? I don't want to make anything too stiff. So I can just replace the mount and that's it? This won't affect anything else?

Stiffer (SVT) mounts will give a little stronger launches as there is less energy absorbed by the mounts flexing. You'll probably get a tad more engine vibration transferred to the chassis. (Time for a DMD )

If your going to change the tranny mount to SVT, then you should do it to all of the motor mounts as well. The added stiffness to the one and not the others could wear the new mount prematurely. All the mounts, SVT or non, bolt in and out with little effort and without any other work needed. However did you manage to wear it out? I got a 95 SE w/240,000 (20,000 on new motor) and never had to change it?

Oh, by the way, you could eliminate any wheel hop with the stiffer mounts.

First, I really don't want to spend the money on replacing all of the mounts. If this eliminates using the SVT mount, then so be it. I'm not sure why my mount wore so quickly, but it is definitely toast. There is room all round the top of the mount to stick ones fingers in. There is significant room for the tranny to "buck" up and down. Finally, what is the correct name for the mount? Looking at the parts catalog, my options were Left (front), left (rear), and right motor mounts...

did you try looking up tranny mounts?
You could look at what they call it in any engine removal instructions for the Contour.

The SVT mounts may not get rid of all wheel hop as there are other factors involved.(i.e. suspension, control arm bushings, tie-rod ends.)

I just noticed a significant reduction when i replaced with the stiffer SVT mounts.
