I'm new here and all, so this might have been covered before. However, a search didn't come up with anything.
I had the whole deal with the water pump disintegrating etc, resulting in an engine overhead and now its replaced. Fine. Works like a charm again But I noticed that the horn no longer works. I can hear it clicking but I get no sound.

Question:
1) Is the horn setup in any way connected to the engine, and
2) Is this something that is likely to be blamable on the dealer that installed the new engine?

Thanks for any input.

If you can hear clicking, it might suggest that the horn relay is working. Check the connections to the horn itself; might have become dislodged during the engine work...just my $00.02...

Is the smoke alarm in your house also known as the "dinner bell"?

My horn went dead for a few months.... Then I was playing with the remote "alarm" and it started working again. I think mine was a stuck relay.

My horn stopped working 2 days ago also. I think it might be the actual horn as the fuse is still ok, and also if I lock my doors by remote, I no longer get the horn sound.

I spent the weekend looking for the horn but could not find it. Can anyone tell me where it is?

There are plenty of real experts here but since i ran into a horn disapearing problem a few months ago - this is what happened.
My horn and cruise went out - checked fuses - replaced relay - Gewellington offered info off of his Haynes Wiring diagram - i wisely refused to go there - TH suggested that the ribbon wire in the steering was prone to break or get loose - wiggled my tilt steering a lot wink - after a few weeks my cruise came back - finally gave up and took it to the shop - they replaced the horn - LOL.
regards, eugene

If you have 1 horn it will be in the fenderwell right above the square flap opening in the front bumper splash shield. If you have two horns one on each side, same place ... so it's right on the corner of the front on each side.

If you hear a clicking noise, the horn relay is probably working. Find the horn (or horns) as Elizabeth directed. Pull the wireing connector off. Attach a test light or voltmeter and see if you have voltage when someone pushes on the horn pad. If you have voltage at the connector, you have a bad horn. Replace it. You may want to install a second one at the same time if you only have one. Two sound better and usually only one fails at a time so you would still have something if one fails.

The main culpret in destroying horns is water. If water gets into the horns it often destroys them. Sometimes they start working again when they dry out. If you repeatedly have a problem with flooded horns, you may want to try to mount them in a more protected area.

If you don't have power at the horn, you will need to trace the wiring back to find out where it is lost. A wiring diagram would be helpful.

Thanks, everyone. I've found myself a voltmeter and will try out your suggestions.
