I'm thinking about getting a 1985 toyota supra as a beater car. the guy selling it says it needs a clutch. it started on the first try, the moter seems good for 150,000 miles. When i put it in gear i get nothing, no noise at all, no grinding and no movement. if it is just the clutch i'll buy it this weekend for only $300. carparts.com has a clutch kit for about $150. i just want to be sure it's the clutch and not a bigger problem like the transmision. any advice would be great, thanks.

All i can tell you is i once had a 83 celica and it did the same thing. I thought my clutch was toasted, so i pulled the transmission and to my suprise the (pivot bolt) that the clutch fork pivots on had broken. The repairs costed about $3.00 and a little bit of my time.
Hope i helped good luck dude......... :p
