I have had these very annoying devices on my front suspension ever since the recall that installed them. Not only do they rub (slightly) the spring tower but they continually rattle over almost every bump on the road. This drives me up the wall, especially when the front windows are open in town.

Question: What are the chances of the front springs breaking, (98 Mystique, 2.5L 5 speed.) are these things actually good to have or are they just another dodge liability thing ....what would you do...pull 'em or keep 'em?

I had mine removed due to the same complaints you report.

Its a liability thing.

I had a look at them on someone's car. I can see how they would rattle.

It's Ford's way of passing the buck. It saves them a ton of money to install these POS shields instead of fixing the real problem and replace the springs.

Typical Ford...
