RC Engineering is a reputable company that cleans and flow tests fuel injectors off the motor.

I read a lot about Ford dealerships recommending a FI cleaning with them on the motor (I suppose by attaching cleaner to the fuel rail somehow). But I suspect that most of the time this is just a quick money grab. A local guy flunked a smog test, then passed after new plugs and wires, and then the dealer pushed for the FI cleaning "so he can pass smog". He declined and then realized that they were trying to be less than clear with the fact that he had already passed the test. I don't think he goes back there any more.

As far as gas tank FI cleaners, Chevron Techtron and Redline Complete Fuel System Cleaner are the best brands to use IMHO (I prefer Redline personally).

BG 44K is also recommended for "on car" FI cleaning.

Most shops are reputable and will do something similar to the gas tank cleaner when you take it in for service. The 3 cleaners mentioned have been shown to actually work. Shops may have some other equipment to pump things through the system in a shorter time and under pressure, but I'm not sure they work any better than just buying the Techron, Redline, or 44K yourself and following the directions.

I also don't know that taking them off the car will give you an advantage, since now you have to pay even more for labor and special equipment.

Once upon a time people on this board also liked the MotorVac treatment.

I personally use the Redline SL1 and have used Techron. Both work well. I too like the redline much better... mainly because I can run a bottle thru the first time then use the increments every other tank and keep everything nice and clean.
