Hello,

My zetec is getting the error: p0302 mis
p0302 Cylinder 2 misfire detected

Does anyone know what will cause this error? In the last couple days the car has been idling very rough and stalls on start... then today it blew that code.

Anyone seen this?

Thanks!

Plugs, Wires, Coil Pack. Could be any one of those, probably plugs or wires though. If your car has high mileage on it, you should probably change them anyways.

That would be my guess anyways.

From the Ford TSP (Technical Service Publication):

Possible causes:
-- Ignition System.
-- Fuel Injectors.
-- Fuel Pressure.
-- Evaporative System.
-- Canister Purge.
-- Base Engine.
-- Running out of fuel.

Thanks guys.

Iâ??ll start with the cheap stuff and move on, if needed. It feels like a spark problemâ?¦ not fuel.

I recently fixed a misfire code on my in law's 96 Bonneville (sorry, no blower), same wasted spark type ignition. It had a bad coil and a bad plug wire, both confirmed with ohmmeter (chicken and egg situation there probably). Nice thing about GM coils - you can replace individual coils, instead of the whole coil pack assembly.

Fwiwâ?¦

It was the plugs. I replaced them with some motorcraft double plats. The problem plugs were autolite double platsâ?¦ they only lasted 30k.

The car is back to running normal
