I'm thinking about buying the Dual Mode (Mass?) Damper from SP Motorsports.com, and I was wondering if anyone else had bought, and more importantly, INSTALLED this sucker themselves. It looks like a tight fit in the engine bay, as was pointed out to me at the SVT/SHO barbeque last Saturday. SP's site says that it substantially improves revving smoothness at RPMs above 4000, but is it worth buying if I rarely go above 4000? I love this car like a brother, so I want it to really be happy.

Okay. I lied. I love it MORE than a brother.

I would pick it up from Terry Haines, locally, but be sure to catch him when he's not cranky . . . but remember, he's british, so sometimes its hard to tell

Terry Haines:

Really? How long would it take you to put one in? And how much would you charge for the whole job?

You can notice a difference and it really isn't that much
money for the "piece of mind" it offers.....the theory behind
the part sounds 'sound'

GO FOR IT. Only wish I lived 200 miles closer to Terry. Not only can you get the part, but installation from a proven pro on our cars. Besides, you WON'T BELIEVE the difference this sucker makes even if you only go above 4K evry three months. S- m- o- o- t- h! And you're prtecting your crank & other crucial bottom end parts at the same time!.

haha, I actually wrote a good bit of the new 'rules'
and fwiw, not many people view "cranky" as a personal attack, and I'm pretty sure British are lumped in with the rest of the caucasians as far as race

Now that the humor is out of the way I really do recommend the Dual Mode Damper for all the reasons that have been stated already, and if my house weren't stuck in a "spending freeze" on car parts, I would have one on its way from Mr. Haines (though from his posts directed at me lately, I'm not sure he would sell anything to me . . .)

I'm like shifty in that I don't rev the car up too often (and the loving the car part, too ) does it make a difference down low too? Thinking...

When we were having our DMD install meets, myself with a few others helping were able to do the job from jacking the car, to putting it back on the ground in about an hour.
