What should I use to clean the heads? I'm talking about what kind of cleaner, because I know some degreaser will stain aluminum and eat it away. What can I use without damaging the heads?

My mechanic used about 6 cans of GM Carb Cleaner to clean 86,000 miles of buildup on the parts I reused from my engine. He swears by the stuff. It eventually did clean everything up.

I used Fords carb cleaner to remobe 65000 miles of crap from my TB right before spring zing...worked like a charm! $4 for the can and I have more than half left.

1999 Silver Frost SVT #609 of 2760 Quaife, lightened SVT Flywheel, SPEC stage II clutch, removed resonator, k&n drop in - various other goodies too.

I cleaned them. Used some of the cheap carb cleaner from Advance Auto, and a used toothbrush. Then used Simple Green to remove all the oil after everything is done. The secondary intake passages are downright nasty! It was almost like clogged with carbon.

Mmmm..... Chemtool!!! That stuff causes cancer in more states than California!

I fell in love with that stuff when I rebuilt the quadrajet on my old Camaro. It's like magically getting new parts!
