I have a 95 LX V6 5-speed with 110K miles. I have ordered SE edition Motorcraft struts from FORDPARTSONLINE to tighten up the handling a bit without making it hard.

First question: I want to make sure the SE stuts will bolt up no problem with my LX suspension.

Second Question: From the FordParts website it looks like the SE had different springs in the back than the LX, but the same springs in the front. Is this the case?

can someone answer these questions for me?

Thanks!

SE struts may be better than LX struts, but nowhere near as good as the struts BAT has to offer or anywhere close to Konis. And I bet you paid an arm and a leg for 'em too from the dealer!

Check the BAT catalog and see how the prices compare http://www.batinc.net/files/contour.PDF

The same goes for the springs.

If you are looking for a close to stock looking suspension with better handling, then the BAT European Handling kit is for you.

The car is old and the Motorcraft struts (on-line purchase) were half the cost of the Koni's (on-line) and ~40% less than the KYB's. I'm not spending much money on it.

Thanks for the feedback, but do you know the answers to my specific questions?

Thanks!

Check shox.com or tirerack.com KYB'S can be had for about 250 FOR A SET OF 4!!!!. They are cheaper than the OEM struts for some reason! I checked SPMOTORSPORTS.COM and kyb's were going for around 125 a piece so I would jump on this deal!!!

Anyone have any opinions on the KYB's? If they're decent at that price, I'm all over 'em...

KYB's are $82 each at tirerack.com. The OEM SE struts are $68 each at fordpartsonline.com. I think the Koni's are ~$130 each at tirerack.

I had adjustable Koni's on an RX-7 back in the mid-80's and liked em.

I guess no one viewing this message knows the answer to my original fit up question...

they should match up, but all contour struts require some effort to change. grab hold of a haynes manual, well worth the small investment, or see if your library has a copy, mine does.

contours, deloreans & fiats, oh my!
