Hey everyone...what is the widest tire size I can fit on a stock set of 1999 SVT contour rims without compromising safety and quality? I currently have replacement BFG G-Force TA/KDW's that I have not had any problems getting. However, I am looking to upgrade to something sportier and quieter. Any suggestions?

From everything I've been able to gleen from this site, BFG KDW 225/50YR16 (section width = 9.2") are the widest tires that will fit w/o rubbing on rear strut or fender liner. If I'm wrong, someone will point it out

Is the 225/50YR16 size applicable to the BFG's KDW only or does this size work with all manufacturers?

I've been keeping mental notes of the tires that fit on stock rims in 225/50 size for my upcoming purchase.

Here you go:

Kumho Ecsta 712
Firestone Firehawk SZ50 EP <--- yummy
Michelin XGT V4/Z4
BFGoodrich g-Force KDWS and KDW
Bridgestone Potenza S-03 Pole Position <--- also yummy

This does apply to the Firestone Firehawk SZ50's. I have them. The EP have a better tread wear to you are in better shape!

Andy W. The problem with America is stupidity. I'm not saying there should be a capital punishment for stupidity, but why don't we just take the safety labels off of everything and let the problem solve itself?
