I just did a engine swap on my 1995 Contour because the infamous water pump impellor cracked in half and the recall for the temperature guage did not come out until after the fact. Now the new junkyard engine cannot get any spark or fuel when i turn the engine over. The coil pack was replaced but still no spark or gas. Everything went back together very well so now im about to tow it to a dealer can anyone help ?.

what year is the new engine from?
the 95 uses ODB I and 96+ engines use ODB II
the issue may be that the sensors don't match the computer or the other way around

The engine is out of a 98 contour however i did switch engine wiring harnesses and upper and lower intakes so that i could still use my vacuum operated intake actuating gear and i had to swap out quite a few sensors that did not match up to my harness. The old engine would not spark anymore in the end either.

Fuses? Both the spark and the fuel pump can be killed by blown fuses. Just a thought.

Looking at the ignition diagram I have (looks like for a 4 cyl. ??) the following things may be worth checking:
- F4 : 12V for coil pack (violet/black) - PCM inputs to coil pack (Blk/Grn & Blk/Blu) should pulse on/off when turning over. - F11 : PCM memory fuse - The fuel cut off switch in the cabin - Relay 8 for fuel pump (Do you hear it run for a sec. when you turn the key to 'on') - Relay 11 for PCM - F14 fuel pump fuse - F9 PCM fuse
It also looks like there are a number of fusible links in the wire harneses that could cause problems. Hope this helps.

I did check all my fuses both in engine compartment as well as in the passenger compartment. There is power to both the fuel pump as well as the hot wire going to the coil , you can hear the fuel pump build up pressure and stop when you first turn the key on.

If you hear the fuel pump running, your probably getting fuel up to the fuel rail but you may want to test this. IIRC there is a pressure release (tire-like?) valve on a fuel lines near the intake. There should be 3 wires going to the coil pack that have a signal that will only change when the engine is turning. Speaking of turning, might want to check the crank position sensor and connections.

Normally I thought you should install PCM that matches used engine but the '98 comes with the PATS (ie engine demobilizer) key so maybe that is why you did not switch the PCM.
