no worries, it's not stuck open. laugh

but it's strangely frictional at the top (foot off the pedal)
this started when it got cold and i'd first get in the car. i'd have to rev once to get past the friction so i could get out of my parking place reasonably slowly.
now it comes back when i'm cruising around if i ever take my foot off the gas.

it doesn't seem tight at the trottle body as i can move it with my hand without it sticking. so i lubed up the pedal pivot but it didn't do much.
the cable seems fine.
any ideas?
thanks-
eric

The dreaded throttle stick (not the hang). I have the same problem to a lesser extent. Have not addressed it yet though. Seems to come and go sporadically. I'm interested in a fix as well.

I have the same problem on my CSVT. It comes and goes, but is usually at its worst after the car has been sitting for a few hours - especially in the morning.

I've tried squirting some DuraLube onto the pivot point, but it didn't provide any noticeable improvement.

So, rather than fixing it, I've just tried to condition myself to the problem by how I work the pedal. It is pretty annoying, though.

I had this problem too, but it went away... To be honest, I don't know how it stopped... It might be because I put on the new filter, or when it started warming up last year... I think it only afected me when it was cold... I know what you mean, just that little stick that makes it harder to feather the clutch when parking or whatever. I dunno what to do tho.

Hey guys, just so you know, there was a recall from Ford to replace the throttle cable because it could fray and bind in the sleeve. Might want to look into that...

99-5-19 or 99-s-19 can't read my writting. It's on my list of things for the dealer to fix. I think it is the one with the S which i think it means it's a safety recall. Hope that helps

A dirty throttle body can do this. It is also a bit more prone to stick with the engine running. Before you do anything else, clean the throttle body and see if it goes away. If it persists, post again or PM me, and I will give you additional insight as to what it may be and how to cure it.

As for the sticking throttle, Big Jim has it right. Remove the inlet hose from the throttle body and use either intake cleaner or some gasoline on a rag, and clean all around the throat and the butterfly. Be sure to carefully clean the step area where the butterfly closes because that is the point at which the sticking starts. Takes about 15-20 minutes to do a good job. I would recommend not to spray throttle body cleaner heavily into the throat even with the engine running. You'll probably get a "Check Engine" light.

I had this problem when I had my SVT. I eliminated the problem by liberally spraying the linckage at the throttle body with carb cleaner, exercising the accelerator pedal full travel several times(witht the engine off) followed by forced air drying with compressed air regulated to 20psi, followed by a spray until it drips with LPS1 (a PTFE lubricant) don't use a oil based lubricant becasue it will attract dust and dirt.
