I am looking into making this mod. I have a 99 Mystique, and was wondering which switch I should be using for the mod. I noticed Ford has two different part numbers for the rear power-window switches, one for 95-97 models, and a different number for 98-00 models.
What would the difference be between those two part numbers?
Regarding the dome light mod: what dome-light models from other car-models (e.g. Escort? Taurus?) would be usable for this mod?
Thanks in advance to all who can/will reply.

The part number for the switch you want to use is : f8rz-14529-ab Don't forget the D79 connector to power the LED !
I'm not sure what to say about a "matching" rear dome light . Since you've got a Mystique , you've already got the light I had to add ... . I guess you'll have to "browse" the dealer's lots for one that looks like it'll fit . Better yet , maybe wander around a junkyard pulling down dome lights & measure the holes .

i just did the moonroof switch. i got the wrong switch sent to me(the how-to didn't list a part#, i figured the window switches are universal within ford but they aren't). mine had 2 extra prongs, instead of one extra. simply pull out one of your door switches and the part# will be on on. i ended up pulling my front passenger door switch and put it in the moonroof. worked perfectly. the moonroof switch is temporary in the passenger door til i get the right switch.
the one i got thats wrong starts with 93. my door switch starts with 95.
and the d79 should wire to the left most wire of the 3. you'll know what i mean when u try.

T hank you guys, will heed your advice. With regards to a rear dome light, I do not have such a beast on my Mystique; probably another Ford decontent for the Canadian market, like happens sometimes with other "Canadian-specification" cars.

Well , since you don't have the rear dome light , the part number for THAT is : f5ry-13776-a
I can't say I've ever seen a Mystique without it ... I wonder if the wires will be up there ???

Thanks, Y2KMondeoSVT! I had a peek between the roof and roof-liner from the back of the car (after removing the two mushroom clips), and there does not seem to be any wiring for a rear dome light there, just the metal frame to receive one, though (judging from the picture I saw for this modification on the Mondeo Enthusisast Group site, or was it Mirez?). I have the moon-roof (yeah, I already mentioned it in heading; must be age catching up with me ... ), so routing the wire might be interesting. Again, "Candaian specification" cars can be sometimes quite different from US-models. An example was my built-in-Canada 1980 Pontiac Catalina, which was really a Chevrolet Impala under a Pontiac skin, complete with a small-block 4.4L engine (anyone care to remember that dud engine, with all of 120 HPs? ). A last one while we're at it: is the D79 connector something I could ask just like that to any Ford parts-person, or is there another more exotic designation for this part? Again, thanks a million for your help, it is much appreciated! Serge

Running the wiring around the moonroof is no biggie . You just pop the rubber off (surrounding the moonroof on the inside) & you can pull the headliner down a bit . You'll still have to puch the wiring back there with something like a dowel or coathanger ( be careful !!! ) , but it's pretty simple .
When I went to the dealer to get my stuff , I printed out the How-To & took it along . I asked the parts dude for the D79 & he said "HUH ???" . I showed him the pic , told him it was a small plug that hooks to a narrow male "spade" connector (showed him the connections on the switch) & he went back into a bin & got it (should've asked for 10 of 'em ) .

Thanks you very much for all the info, Y2KMondeoSVT, will follow of your advice.
I was asking about the D79 'cause I sometimes get weird answers at some of the dealerships(!) around here. For example, when I asked about the price of the pollen filter at one place, answer I got was "I've never seen one here" (they've been at this location for at least the last 6 years, selling Mercury's and Lincoln's; then Ford's when the Mercury dealers in canada were converted to Ford's) . Another dealer's answer was "Don't waste money changing it, unless there's a musty smell in your car when you start the AC".
Again, thanks very much!
