Hello everyone, I just purchased a Ford Contour SE Sport V6 1998 app. ten days ago. I brought it to the local montreal dealer and had all 8 recalls done to the car.
However, regardless of the recalls, the B37 fuse (the 30Amps fuse for the ventilation system) keeps blowing. I've changed it 6 times in the last ten days.
Since I'm gearing up to do 1700km in a few days, I would like to find out what the problem is.
There doesn't seem to be a pattern to the fuse blowing so it's dififcult to explain to a mechanic.
Does anyone have any information that might be handy. I'd rather not do 1700km without a ventillation system in my very first car.
Thank you very much everyone BTW, I'm still in shock that such a site exists. Absolutely wicked !!!
Cheers, Philippe

Welcome onboard.
Unclear as to whether fuse was blowing before or has just started since the recalls? I'm surprised there was 8 recalls, must check my own car on that, although I too bought it used.
Regarding f37; it's primarily for the blower(fan) motor but does feed via numerous switches/relays the a/c compressor clutch. Basic question would be does fuse blow with heater only or during a/c operation? A/C works in max a/c, a/c, flr/def and def positions of mode swich.
p.s. Temp control can be on low while checking fan operation.

Hello, thanks for the information.
Sorry about the confusion, the fuse was blowing even before the recalls were made.
Also, the does not seem to be any pattern with the position of the ventillation. It blows with A/C on or off and at the various fan speeds.
There doesn't seem to be a pattern but I'll look again more closely to be absolutely certain.
Thanks again everyone.

You've probably got a short somewhere...the wiring harness could have been rubbed bare in some place and is grounding on something metsl...basically there's no easy answer. Happy hunting!

It sounds like intermittent blower motor problem or short in wiring. Suggest you run with fan on hi, mode on floor or panel for a while to see if fuse blows under those conditions.
