The blower will only blow on high, on the middle and low speed settings? I get just a trickle of air. Does any one have any info on the recall? I can??t find any info on the main page. Is it hard to replace?
Thanks!

i can't believe they won't replace it under recall. granted it may not be the correct year and all, but it is the same wiring harness.....at least I understand it to be.
i don't think the part is that expensive to replace....Don't have the p/n for ya. i just don't understand....a ton of "non-recalled" cars have been having this problem. It happened in my 98 SVT when I first bought it, they replaced it no problems...
oh well.

I agree. You would think they would make it right. But rules are rules I guess. I just e-mailed Bill for the part. This is the same ??blue oval certified? dealer that overfilled the oil level on my new mustang during my complementary oil change. With that level of service, I would not expect them to go the extra mile. I was nice on the first customer service survey Ford HQ sent, I??m gonna nail them to the cross on the next I'm sure they care

How many miles on the car? Some of the items we loosely refer to as recalls are actually extended warranty items by Ford where they will fix something up to a certain age/mileage if and only if , it has failed. This link to alldata.com certainly lists the heater (fan) switch, resistors and connectors as being a problem with your year.

I think a further talk with dealer is necessary or call Ford.
If you want to, or end up having to, fix yourself I suggest you start at resistor connection, behind glovebox, and use a multi-meter to determine if it is switch or resistor problem. Post again if you require more help on the specifics.

Burgman,
I am worried why the dealer won't fix it, but it is such a simple job and so cheap, it is well worth doing it yourself.
Don't have the P/N number but just tell the parts counter you need a blower resistor and they will know what you are talking. The part should be less then $10.00.
Here are the directions:
1. Empty and remove glovebox (Squeeze both sides in and drop down. Should pull straight out) 2. Locate resistor pack (should be towards the left side while looking in. You will see a white pack with a wiring harness attached to it) 3. Remove one torx screw, disconnect wiring harness, and toss the old pack. 4. Check the conditions of the wiring to make sure they are in good shape. 5. Installation is reverse of above procedure.
Note: Check to make sure you don't have the car on and the HVAC switch on. The resistor will get very, very hot.
Let me know if you have any questions.

Ford won't fix it if it is not covered. They quoted me me $158 to do it. Yeah, you think you're shocked. I told them to leave the thing apart I was taking my car to my mechanic. It cost $30 for the parts from the Ford dealer. If you can wait, I recommend Ford Parts Online. I have delt with those guys (in particular Gary) and they were great. My mechanic charged me $20 to put the resister in. I think I have the part numbers written down somewhere at my desk at home I can look around tonight if you still need them.
Good luck!
Also, if your wife went, they may have tried to cheat her..yeah, it happens. Did YOU check to see if you are covered? I think it is like 6yrs, or 70K or something close to that. Check, then go back.
