I had the warped dash "fix" done to my car about a month ago. Now I noticed that the right side of the defroster is popping up again. Has this happened to any of you who have had the "fix"? I'm wondering if this will warrant a completely new dash or if they'll just try to "fix" it again. I don't know if replacing the dash will be worth the hassle it could potentially cause but I'm not happy with how the "fix" turned out. I have many more squeaks now than I did before. :rolleyes:

The defroster vent popping up is warrant of a replacement.

I must have been extremely lucky, because that was the only problem with mine and they replaced the entire dash first time through.

Yeah I just gots my dash replaced abouts a week ago... Does nothing but rattle and squeek, sounds likes it going to fall off! That or i'm gonna pulls it off! Its driving me crazy. Not for sure iffin I can takes it back to have to checks it out or now.

We do not repair the dash at our dealership. We replace all of them. No squeaks, no rattles, no butchers!

ford won't replace anything unless they HAVE to. I brought my car in for some work, and they did the recall on the dash (there was nothign wrong with it!!!!). Not only did I find an extra bolt rolling around on the floor afterwards, but, they scratched up the plastic on the sides of the widshield, because they put them on before sliding the dash back in. I took it back for them to fix, they sanded one down, left the other one messed up...so I brought it back today, and they "fixed" that one. I can still see the scratches a little...but I give up

Hey, what do you mean you had the "fix" done? Mine has popped out a long time ago and the left side is curling up and is rubbing against the window. Every time I hit the smallest bump it makes speaking noises. I need to find a couple days when I don't need the car because I can't even get a rental since I'm only 17.

Ford has two options, one is to repair the original dash by re-gluing it and putting a plastic strip across the end of the dash along the windshield or they can replace the entire dash if they feel it is necessary. My dash was curling up and the defroster vent was popping up. They just "fixed" it without replacing the entire dash.
There is a recall for your dash, it will be done free of charge. If the "fix" is done then it will only take a couple hours. You shouldn't need a rental. If they need to replace the entire dash then one will probably need to be ordered. That could take quite a while but actual installation shouldn't take too long I don't think.
