I have a '96 Contour, 72K, 2.0L 5-speed. Never had a problem until a couple of months ago. I've always done all my own repairs, but this one has me stumped. Simply put, it's a "skip" at eithe light or heavy accelleration. I've ruled out the basic stuff, like plugs (which are new anyway), ignition wires, fuel pump and filter, because it runs perfectly til it warms up. If I disconnect the coolant temp sensor, it runs fine all the time, since the PCM thinks the engine is cold. The coolant sensor tests ok with an ohm meter, per the Haynes service manual. Never got a CHECK ENGINE light (except when I had a sensor disconnected). Any help would be greatly appreciated; I'm hoping I don't have to break tradition and PAY someone to fix a problem! Thanks!

You may want to investigate the TPS (Throttle Position Sensor).
