All you need is some fishing twine.... work from one end of the guard to the other using the twine as a saw to seperate the glue from the door. Once the ding guard is removed, take some rubbing alcohol or some other solvent that won't eat at your paint and scrub the residue that the glue left behind off of the door.... this is where patience and elbow grease come into play.

BTW, why are these things referred to as "door dings"? Aren't door dings (or dents rather) made from too many people opening their car doors into you in a parking lot? Just curious. Anyways, hope this helps.

Yeah I thought dings were dents too but on an earlier post someone else referred to them "door dings" so I just thought I'd roll with it. thanks for the info though, does rubbing alcohol work best or would that "power of orange" stuff do the trick, and about how long a job is this? Thanks again!

Do you mean door dings (dents) or door ding guards?

Once you lift one end off the paint, just pull the whole strip off. Then you can use WD-40 and a soft cotton rag to rub off the glue that gets left behind. Then wash and wax.

Dang! Beat me to it!

I'm not sure if I'd want to use WD-40 since it is also a penetrant, might do some damage to the clear coat. I kept a spray bottle full of water and kept soaking the foam after I had pulled the strips off. It keeps the foam much more plyable while you scrape it off and doesn't seem to hurt your fingers as much. A towel also helps protect your fingers from blisters. It took me around 15 minutes for each rear door and 30 for each front door, then include time for polishing and waxing. Its not a quick job but it is certainly worth the look IMO.
