hey guys i'm going to upgrade my cars audio system and I would like some input..

i'm thinking about 3 12" subs, maybe just 2. right now i have a box w/ 2 10" subs. I think i messed up one, it makes a ripping noise almost when i turn the volume up high, maybe voice coil damage? anyway what subs do you reccomend? I was thinking JL or eclipse? and an amp to power them, maybe nakamishi? I'm still doing research...

also please name any good places to buy from online, i'd like to get a good deal

I have one 12" eclipse aluminum sub with a single voice coil. A 600.1 phoenix gold titanium amp pushing it, enclosed in a homemade sealed russian burch box. I cannot imagine you would want more power than that as every surface on the car shakes and I have to constantly check the decklid reflector hardware as it will unscrew the bolts. I also have a 5 farad capacitor to help power that amp.

What type of music do you listen to? what type of bass are you looking for; punchy bass?, low-end extension? SPL/SQ ratio you prefer? Maximum trunk space you are willing to give up? Price range? I'm runnin a JL 12W3 in a db monster box with an MTX 6500D, works great, REALLY loud (for what I need).
