Apearently the old forum posts are not searchable yet. Does anyone have any recomendations for decent scan tools?
I've seen Harrison R&D, Actron, Equus, Auterra, and a few others. The Auterra looks interesting - any experiance there? Any software/interfaces out there that can be loaded on a laptop?
Thanks,

Auto zone does it for free but I know, nothing like doing it yourself whenever you want

I've got the Harrison R&D one - mainly for the Palm interface. It doesn't have all the features I would like but you can't beat it for sheer portability.

If you're just looking to pull codes and other basic info, it's great. There's supposed to be a new version of the software out that can handle more parameters and have more real-time features but I haven't checked it out yet.

I went to autozone the other day, and they couldn't figure out how or where to attach the scan tool even after looking the the Haines manual

Autozone kid looked there, but apparently didn't find it. I know where it is now, thanks. Last time I had to deal with one was on a "89 Trouper. Just jumper the connection and count the light blinks (broken speedo cable).

96LXV6 heavily un-modded due to family addition. 87Renault GTA convertible, chopped springs, Ford Premium Sound, but otherwise stock.
