Dweezel,
I'm pretty sure that the manual says that you need a 22mm crow's foot wrench, but a 7/8'' one from Sears works just fine.

7/8'' works out to 22.225mm, pretty damn close.

Sounds like a fair price to me. I was quoted $227 for my timing belt to be replaced.

To replace my timing belt, my Ford dealer only charged me $175.00, I guess I must be lucky. But maybe its due to the cost of living in MS?

I tried that with PA 3L SVT and we had a hell of a time getting off. I figure I gave it a shot and I may as well have a shop do it before I strip something.

I had no problem taking my EGR apart with normal crescent wrenches and stuff... after I first drained the coolant, removed the thermostat, got the spark coil out of the way, and all kindsa other excess like that.

VCT = Variable Cam Timing

Kind of like Honda'a VTEC, just a bit more basic.

Okay, so of everyone who has changed the timing belt themselves who has used all the proper tools? It doesn't sound like many have so what I'm wondering is has anyone run into any problems down the line from not using all the right tools?

Also, who has changed the pullies as well as the belt because that seems it would complicate the install process quite a bit? I'm planning to tackle this job this week and would appreciate any advice I haven't seen here already.

Thanks in advance.
