Hey guys,

Today I was looking down at the passenger kick panel, to find out my computer code, and I noticed an unplugged wire just dangling there. It kind of looks like the power connector on a hard drive or other internal device.

What is this and what does it do?

TIA

I don't know.

I do know that there are lots of unused wiring connectors on most cars for accessories or devices that you may not have. A search through the EVTM (electrical vacuum technical manual) may reveal what it is used for in some cars, and it may not.

There is a seemingly unused terminal with two wires behind the glove box that is used to program the remote door lock fobs.

I think Ford is better than most with regards to not leaving unused wiring connectors in the harness (maybe due to penny-pinching).

I haven't found very many unused connectors in either the '95 Contour or the '88 Mustang.

The one mystery connector I did find on the Contour turned out to be the ABS diagnostic plug.

There is also a power distribution panel behind the right lower trim piece on the kick panel. Alot of stuff goes through there. Power windows, door locks, lighting...
