Congratulations to both of you for a great two days of autocrossing. At the event yesterday,
you were both much more aggresive under braking and kept the back end of your cars behind
you, which I had a hard time doing yesterday  . The rest of you guys need to come out
and enjoy the fun at an autocross, the grins and shakes that Tony and Jerry had after their
best runs Saturday and Sunday show how GOOD an adrenaline rush can be. I will offer my help
to all CEG'ers who come to an autocross, though you might want to consult with Tony and Jerry
to see if my advice is worth it after it after they watched me drive Sunday laugh .

Respectfully,
Andy Hohl

I was there to give you some advice yesterday laugh j/k

You are a great teacher, and I'm still having fun.

I'm rather upset I couldn't go on Sunday (even if just to watch).... Hopefully I can come to the Wentzville run this next Sun.

Let me ask you guys that do run.....
How much wear and tear does it put on your car as far as tires go.....

Andy, Jerry, Tony... do you guys drive your cars that you AutoX as your daily drivers??

I'm wondering how much wear and tear I would want to put my car through seeing as it is my primary transportation......

Only Jerry uses his as a daily driver. I beat on an 87 LeSabre daily, and Andy has a fleet of vehicles at his disposal.

Likely, the most damage you would do will be to your tires. Runs of 30 to 60 seconds in second gear probably never exceeding 60MPH will not ruin your car. Impossible to measure how much you shorten the life of your car, but it's unlikely you will ruin it.

Big caveat, I'm assuming the car is in good condition to start with.

We did see a Honda break an axle (probably a CV joint) on Sunday. So it's not impossible to break your car. However, 150 of your newest best friends can help you out.

FWIW,

TB

I drive my Miata, Protege and CSVT everyday on the street. In 17years of autocrossing I have only had 1 mishap, a high pressure air conditioning hose ruptured on the hottest day of the year and I had a 1 1/2 hour drive home with no a/c. frown The wear on street tires is small in my experience.

I am currently experiencing a high idle problem with my car..... took it to the dealer today and they said it was the IAC......

I was planning on attending at the AutoX at wentzville on sun.... what if any damage could I do to my car if the IAC is not fixed??
Is this something I could do myself? If so where would i get the parts? other than the dealer.?

(I've been out of town most of last week, just catching up...)

Last weekend was my best car weekend ever. This coming weekend will top that, I'm sure. Friday and Saturday are Evolution stage I and II for me, and Sunday is another Solo II event.

Andy was a wonderful instructor. He even came over to each of us after our timed runs on Sunday to give some more advice. Above and beyond.

I drive my car daily (now that I have it back again...) and I just do the usual maintenance. I did put on a set of Koni adjustable struts and new plugs and wires. Oh, and that transmission thingie too.

I have only run two events plus a day of school in the car, so I can't really address how it holds up under autocross. My front tires are almost shot, so I'll be replacing them soon most likely. Hopefully the weather for the rest of the year will allow me to run my r-tires. I picked up a set of rims w/used BFG R-1s here at contour.org so I can stay in stock class and hopefully have a lot of fun. I'm planning on burning through those tires this weekend and getting a new set right away. Gotta decide what tires to get though. Time to give Keith a call, perhaps.
