Hello.

Can I have a modicum of input on the feasability of Turbocharging the SVT Motor.

I have a 1998 Cnotour SVT, my Budget is at $3200 for this boost project.

Please let me know! Thank You.

With only $3200, you better learn how to weld like nobody's business! Althought that may be enough money to turbo a Neon or a Honda, that's barely enough to get the parts required to the Duratec, much less have it installed and tuned. I know of 2 custom Duratec turbo kits that where made. One was by Ford Racing done by Kenny Duttwheiler, with undisclosed costs. The other is by a NECO member who had the turbo installed by a local tuner in Oregon and is running very low psi due to stock tranny and internals. IIRC, he paid something like $4500 for parts, install and tune.

Could easily be done, but you would have to do it yourself, as there is no kit available.

And refering to your statement in a different post about a turbo applying boost more smoothly than a Vortech supercharger, that is completely wrong. A turbo setup will have a small boost threshold, then rise rapidly to peak boost and the wastegate will hold it at peak boost, where a Vortech will increase boost directly proportional to engine rpm.

btw, I don't think I can assume you are anything other than a troll with a name like that. And I doubt anyone else will either. So if you are serious, you may wish to consider a different choice of name for this forum.

It's all about balance.

Man with that name you are just asking for trouble.
For $3200 you are pretty close to the cost of a Vortech Supercharger. Currently there are no pre-fabbed kits available fro the Contour/Cougar. BUT Mr. Hightower is working with a reputable company on doing a system for us, not sure on release date or cost at this point in time.

Perhaps I'm missing something ... anyone care to shed some light on decifering his screen name?

Look at it backwards wink We had a troublemaker by the same name a while back. Pretty much pissed off the whole forum. Not sure if this is the same guy.

I don't think this is the guy you're all thinking of. He has 7 posts and every one of them seems legit...

I wish you could just slap an S/C on a contour but the driveline is weak...remember he'd need clutch quaife etc. Plus it doesn't seem too reliable yet from what I've read. Take your $3200 and free up the engine first with bolt ons. Don't buy the UDP if your getting an S/C because the belts wont work!

Sure it is suggested, but not "required". Mark, care to comment on this??
