So i have a theory, wether or not it proves to work is another story, however it's always worth trying. (question, first thoery later)

Question: Which vehicles in 2001+ had the plastic intake similar in design to the Taurus one. I already have an upper, but have found out I will definitely need the lower also, so I just need a lower to matte up to my 2001 Taurus intake.

Theory: I beleive that the oval port 2001+ plastic intake manifolds will provide better all around throughput than our split port design. The reason why I think this, is reading from Terry about the X-area being larger on the ovals than the split port, the fact the manifold is plastic (and very smooth), no wall after TB, and better location of intake filter for possible future ram air considerations, and finally price, I paid just to day 50$ for an upper, EGR, TB, TPS, IAC. Heck say I spend another 50$ just on the lower, that will mean I spent a total of 100$, AND i get an SVT equivalent TB in the process, which alone is worth that much. I also wanted to mention I do not have an SVT upper, and this is my solution to the 260$ price of the upper.

Will the Oval Port lower mate up the the heads on a 2.5L Cougar? Or does that not even matter?

This is an interesting find Pierre. I would be willing to try the same thing on my Cougar and dyno test it for the group, just so we all know. Right now I have the SVT Upper/Lower and TB on my car. It would be cool to see what the difference in power is, if any.

What about the heads? Do the oval port lowers mate to the heads on the 2.5L engine?

Won't mate up to the 2.5 heads without an adapter plate and a little machine work to "point" the port entrances a bit to work with the oval intake parts. I have a 2001 3 liter UIM and LIM if anyone wants it to play around with...

On a 2001 oval head the best upper & lower is the ST220....... wink

Cool...so these can work with adapter plates.

Is anyone selling these? Does anyone have a prototype or something that can be duplicated?

I would really like to run some tests to see what makes more power and get this info out to the Duratec Community. It is something we all need to know. If anyone is willing to work with me, then I can front the cash to get parts made, do the dynoing, tuning, etc.......
