I'm about to get a 02' Duratec Taurus. Will this engine benefit from the DMD or are the harmonic frequencies it eliminates specific to the 2.5?

FWIW, I have one on mine. Dunno if the lower redline on the "Taurotec" PCM makes much difference.

I have not confirmed this but supposedly the 3L (duratec based) Mazda 6 gets the DMD. The bottom end is very similar as well.
1999 Amazon Green SVT Contour (#554/2760)
Stock SVT Duratec V6 with:
Intake- K&N filter/75mm MAF meter
Exhaust- MSDS Y-pipe/Bassani catback
Durability-Ford "dual mode" damper, Mobil 1/K&N oil filter
179.2 FWHP at 6900 RPM

The Duratec in the Contour has a different FEAD location (Front End Accessory Drive if I remember the letters right), therefore could not be used on the Taurus to run the factory Taurus pully/belt driven accessories. You'd have to find another 3 liter or 2.5 liter with the correct FEAD set up to snag one from.

No the ST220 does not use the 3.0 Taurus FEAD but it would be a simple m/c shop job to make up a bolt on extension pully,as the Taurus 'outer' is,picking up on the 3 X 8mm puller holes on the hub.The stoc Taurus damper has an internal l/h thread to which the extension pully screws into...

Your other option would be to wait until the 2003 Taurus 3.0L comes out and pull one off an engine. My sources indicate that it will have the DMD. And no, it's not the same as the Mondeo DMD.
