Okay...I don't think that I am alone with this at all but cams would really complete my engine. I don't haave an svt so I don't even have those cams, but there has to be some #'s out there that someone can post so we can get some regrinds done. It would be a huge help. Terry brad chris anyone out there know what to do?

I found one place so far that will do anything with the duratech cams. It cost me $650.00 to get 4 cams ground. eek

Do you think it would be feasible to get cams with the primary lobes left the same as the svt but with the secondary lobes more agressive?
I'm not sure that the regrind would be good/bad becuase I don't know much about it. All I would like to do is change the torque curve when the secondaries open up.

Attn: Terry Haines. Is it possible with a regrind to just leave the primary lobes alone and modify the secondary lobes? Is that worth it? How agressive can we go with the svt cam?

My dad called a couple of the larger cam makers and of course they havn't touched the duratech cams because there isn't enough requesst for them. Kinda expected that one. They said they also wernt sure if there was enough meat on the cams to do a regrind. All I want is the profile, not really looking for a place to do the regrinds, I can find some places around here. Someone please step up.

You can only remove metal from these cams,to make major mods you have to work from 'blanks' or have the existing cams metal sprayed and re-profiled.Before you consider an aggresive grind consider the weak links in the 2.5 and 3.0 Taurus valvetrain...hyd lash adjusters and finger followers Vs say the direct acting bucket type cams of the 3.0 LS and Jaguar engines? I'm sure you know that its common practice on a Zetec that when you go to a very 'hot' cam grind that the hydraulic buckets are replaced with solids. On a Duratec 24 'custoom' made billet finger followers (Vs the 'stamped' stoc version) and 24 adjustable 'solid' lash adjusters (vs Hyd) will be an expensive job and still will not give you the benifits of a DOHC with direct acting cams on buckets...

That's kind of depressing. It seems that the cost/performance ratio is no good enough with modifying the existing valvetrain. Probably better to look at forced induction then since I don't want to change out my engine again. So far I have been pretty happy with it with the addition of the headers/exhaust and larger throttle body.

The only choice is to work with what we have. I am working with one set of cams on a laugh SCed motor and will let you know how it goes.
