I'm doing an engine swap on a Triumph TR6 and the likely candidate is a 99 Taurus 3.0 Duratec. After doing some looking around on the site it seems that I should be able to use the EEC (ECU?) out of a Contour SVT (And the wiring harness) to run the Taurus engine. I can't use the Taurus computer as the TR will have a M/T. The computer from the Lincoln LS appears to be the other candidate. The question I have now is, Can the CSVT EEC be used with the stock 3.0 Taurus Fuel injection and manifolds. If not, could the CSVT FI and U/LIM be fitted to the 3.0?
Thanks,
Brian

The CSVT ECU can run the 3 liter with either fuel injection system so long as the ECU and the engine come from the same year car. It will not be an optimum set up with either ECU though since it's a custom installation, so I suggest a custom tuneded chip or a tuning computer of some sort. Good luck, sounds like fun!!!

The 3L Duratec ECU can run a M/T equipt car. It is not an issue and will not stop you from using it.

Interesting, I'd thought that the A/T ECU wouldn't let the engine rev past 5K RPM if it didn't detect the transmission shifting. Even so, wouldn't I see better performance out of the SVT ECU or is that a moot point as (as Brad pointed out) I'll likely need an e-manage or some sort of chip? If the SVT ECU would still be better, how critical is it that it come from the same year car? A 98 wouldn't work? Also, when did PATS start - not critical as I saw that can be defeated but I'd rather not have it in the first place.
Questions, Questions,
Thanks,
Brian
