Ok, I got the unit today and I am trying to figure out how to configure it.

I'll post details about the product later, but right now I need to know which color wire is the maf signal on.

I will look on the Ford CD, but APEX guys you can save me some work.

Check the following link for Aussie's SAFC install page. He's got the info you need there.

Hope this helps.

Here's a quick update. One of the Guy's who works at GReddy is a real F'in A'hole!!

The dealer who sold me the GReddy couldn't tell me how to adjust the internals to set the number of cylinders, airflow type, etc.
So I called GReddy and talked to some (obvious by his voice) Asian guy who was pretty cool but couldn't help me out. He suggested I call back and talk to someone named Kenji. I called back and the guy who answered the phone who had no accent and he refused to help me. He said that I was supposed to get support from the dealer, not GReddy. I told him that the manual states to call Greddy or the Dealer in the event that the ecm wiring was not listed in the book.
He said "No, you have to call the dealer."
I thought he meant 'no' that it wasn't printed there, and I said "It's there, I can read it to you."
Then he said, "You don't need to be a smartazs." I didn't say anything for a second at this point because I was furious!
Then I said,"Look, I already called the dealer and he couldn't help me out. That is why I was calling you guys, because your manual says so."
Then he said,"I already told you to get support from the authorized dealer."
Then I said,"Look who's being the smartazs now."
He then said he "We're not going to answer any questions, any support will have to be through the GReddy Performance Dealer." Then he hung up on me!

I promise you if he were in Tucson I would go over there and choke him!

Well, stike one for GReddy, lets hope the product is better than that employee.

I'm not finished with him by any means! After I evaluate the product I am going to call back and tell the whole story to as high up a person as possible. Then I'm going to point out that I am possibly representing the first installation of this product into a Contour and that the CEG has over 6000 potential customers that this guy could have alienated.

I will have some PAYBACK!

I'm going out to finish the job now that I have the wiring schematics. I'll keep everyone posted.
Thanks all for pointing me to the wiring link.

OK, it's 10:00 my time.

I have the unit in and the car is running. I will go for a test drive now. It was very straight forward, and installation took maybe one hour...with the help of Silva Bullet providing me the wiring color codes for the APEX.

Thanks Silva B.

HELL Yeah!! This car RUNS now! laugh

I just did a basic seat of the pants adjustment tonight with the help of my OBDII scanner. I tuned it using the modified stock MAF first. Probably Saturday morning I will play with tuning it in to the C&L MAF that I have.

Bear in mind that I am only using the basic airflow adjustment part of it right now. When I get the software kit( middle of next week) I will install the injector and ignition control harnesses and begin to play with injector pulse width and ignition timing via computer.
So this is what he APEX SAFC people were so happy about.

I was wondering when you would come over to the dark side.

[Darth Vader]Once you become one of us, you will understand[/Darth Vader]

Nothing like being able to fully optimize your A/F ratio to really make that puppy move! I always thought you would be able to squeeze even more power out of that thing once you started to really tune it. Heck, I got 12 hp and 15 ft-lbs just using the AFC. Considering that I have too small injectors on there and my timing sucks the big one, that's a pretty healthy (and very noticable) jump in power.

Hats off to you for pioneering a new (and very valuable) mod, especially for the engine transplant crowd. cool

OUTSATNDING WORK!! You are one hell of a "pioneer"...By the way, what OBDII scanner are you using? Is it PC based or a handheld? I plan on ordering the emanager within the next week (based on your evaluation) and would like to use the same PC for OBDII. Any suggetions?

Thanks guys.

Anyway, the OBDII scanner I use is "OBDScan" from Harrison R&D. I bought this setup because it gave me the software to use either the PC or the Palm ($29.95 extra). I ordered the full kit with both types of software and the ability to work with all types of cars. The total package deal was ~$175 shipped. It is not as sophisticated as other OBD solutions, but then it is a heck of a lot cheaper and it does all of the normal stuff.

As far as the GReddy.
I got the unit from a local speed shop. The guy gave me a good deal on it. I paid $300.00 + tax for the unit. The extra harnesses are $40.00 each, which I ordered, but I have realized that I won't need one of them. The fuel injector harness just adds 9 wires to the existing supplied plug. The plug it comes with has room for something like 20 wires but only has 6 or so in it. The other plug in is for the ignition control, and it actually comes with a supplied plug and harness.
The amusing thing about it is they give the pinout for the back of the main plug, including the fuel injector wiring. All you have to do is go buy some wire and 9 clips that match the type already used in the plug. Can you say $5.00 for your own harness? smile

I am working on the software now. The owner of the shop who sold me the GReddy has the software on order and it should come in the middle of this week. When it comes in the owner is going to let me try to burn a copy of the software for free!
Of course I have to see whether it is copy protected, but I should be able to copy it. Either way, once I have it then I will be very generous with its use. (I won't put in print my intentions with copyrighted software. wink )

'till later, I have to go to school now.
