Does the water pump on the 3.0 Duratec in the Taurus use a metal or plastic impeller on the water pump? I am looking at a 2000 model. It seems that a more than a few have had failures with their 2.5 water pump with the plastic impeller.

2001 (I think) is when they started putting the waterpump on the correct side. I would think they are using the updated white plastic impeller.

I'll tell you next week when a new 3.0 Taurus motor arrives at HMS Inc for............nah,not yet....or even the 'second hand' 3.0 we have for....nah, cant say !...but I'll take a look at the pumps......

Exciting times are brewing. I can't stand all of this secret keeping that's going on. For the betterment of the group, all of my projects are put out for all the world to see... Probably because I like to show things off a bit... (Frustration sets in) :p Chris, until the complete motor assemblies of the '01+ 3 liters comes down a bit, I'll still be pushing the older 3oh with an electric pump for at or near the same money. Hence, no pump for me to look at.

Same price = more HP going with an older block. That's what I was saying!

If you use the 3L heads u can't use the stock fuel managment system on an E0. And on the 01' engines the waterpump is run off the camshaft same as the 2.5s.
