stupid question time:which 3.0 are u all using? the sho 3.0 or the regular run of the mill duratec??? the sho of course has gobs of horsepower but the duratec in my mothers 2000 taurus is a puny 140-145 hp v6 and i know the other duratecs are about the same...

if using the regular duratec what are you guys getting for hp after install and/or what are u doin to make this a higher output engine???

i need to know so that i can save an pray and save and sell my body to get the money for the conversion for my v6 se

It sounds like your mother's car is a Vulcan motor, rather than a Duratec. As for the SHO motor, it will not fit. The higher output, 99 and up Duratec motor is the upgrade motor. Look for the Taurus with the 3.0, 24V, 200 hp motor.

The X Type Jag is 75% LS re Engine.The 3.0 LS blocks are shipped to UK to have 'Jag' heads,cams,intake manifold etc...this gives them the higher output Vs LS engine but the 'short block' assy is the same...I think the biggest prob is getting the total Jag engine...need to be on a 'waiting list' for a totalled wreck......

thanks guys cleared that right up for me as i didn't even realize that ford still made the vulcan motor....

okay next question: will the 3.0 fit to my auto tranny or will that take mods???

I just saw a jaguar LS 3.0 on the streets of Tucson Today. I suppose the 2002's released in Sept or October anyway, at least thats how it has worked when I worked at the dealership.

what is the HP rating of the Jag X-type, and what indicates that it will have a higher HP rating?

well warmonger, I believe motor trend's numbers on the 3.0 were 231 hp, correct me if i'm wrong, but it should be quite a bit nice than the original 200. sigh too bad I have a zetec. Any one wanna give me money for a turbo???

Terry, what about the S-type engine? It seems to be the same base engine but with an extra 10 HP AND extra 10 ft-lbs torque. Is either engine available new out of the crate at anything approaching an acceptable price?
