Hey all. Seem to be some other SVT folk around at the moment, so I thought I'd ask: I saw that the instructions for the the TH fix mention a possibility of it sapping a little power on the 99+ SVTs. I did the fix (woohoo! a toughie, that one), and can't really tell if it sapped power or if it's the reverse placebo effect and it just feels like it because I read that it might. Anyone else tried it? The car wasn't suffering terribly from TH anyway, so...

Also. Who wants to make a new friend and get free dinner and beer? I'm getting a new water pump in this week for a sort of preemptive replacement, so I don't have to go through what v6contourv6 and countless others are. But I'm cheap, and want to start learning my way around my new car, and all my good tools are conveniently located in Seattle. Who wants to help? I'm asking a lot for a little, so if no takers, I understand...

The water pump is easy to replace and a good way to familiarize yourself with the car. A good place to start if you ask me. It should go over very smoothly, sorry about your tools and if I was closer id help you out no problem. But good luck!

Does any of you know how to do the zetec w/p... cause i was looking at mine and it looks like a total biatch!!!

I've never heard of anyone having wp problems on the zetec. What it looks like from the outside isn't going to really tell you much of anything about the real condition of it anyhow. What really matters is the impeller and even if you could see that, it might look fine right up until it blew. Fatigue cracks are a biatch like that.

If I had a Zetec, I wouldn't worry about it and save the money for the turbo that you're getting.

However I wasnt saying that it looked in bad condition on the outside, I was saying that it looked like a biatch to remove and replace.. thats all!!

But thanx for the help, and yes I do need just a little more for my turbo and then she will sing, cause i am also gettin the engine and tranny rebuilt by terry and the install of a quiafe!! very much $$$

I think I will be the first contour to go alll out race with the Zetec, so we shall see how it goes!!

One of my car fantasies is to get a Zetec tour from the junkyard REAL cheap and gut it in preparation for an autocross mule including the turbo and quaife.

I'd take it down to the sheetmetal in the interior, take out all the lights, dump the a/c, stereo, etc., lower it, pop on a graphite hood, add race tires and weld in a roll cage... that thing would freaking scream... might be able to get it down close to the weight of a normal civic or so... with 300 hp!

My current (and only) project is a 302 V8 that I just took out of a '72 Ford ranchero. I'm actually heading out to the garage right now to start on it again. I'm going to rebuild it and drop it into a jeep, most likely a cj-7 for an off road funmobile! Yeehaa baby.
