For those who regularly commute on the FFx Co Pkway. This was on the morning news ed.

(Fairfax) - The Fairfax County Parkway is about to become a big speed trap.

County police plan to step up enforcement for two weeks, between Jan. 26 and Feb. 8. Along with police using radar on the side of the road, they'll also be out driving, looking for speeders.

According to police, there were more than 1,600 accidents on the Fairfax County Parkway last year.

That's 4 accidents/day on average.

It's funny how they are going to put the speed traps where the accidents do not occur.

The state's coffers are running on empty so here's a way for Fairfax Co. to generate some fast $$. The reason why there are so many accidents on the pkway is because of the heavy traffic and lack of major roads in the area.

Here are some pretty active spots where Fairfax Co cops like to run radar on the parkway (Springfield/So. Fairfax areas)...
  • Hooes Rd. underpass
  • Braddock Rd. overpass
  • Sydenstricker Rd. underpass
  • South Run recreation park intersection

In most of these cases I've seen, they were on motorcycles.
