Hey everyone, First off i don't want to hear any complaints about the weather down there... we got 42 inches of snow in michigan!! but anyways, just wondering how large the interest in cars and racing people are down there, I might be moving to Ft. Lee this spring or summer. anyone from around that area?? just curious Kristen

Dont know where Ft. Lee is, but there is a nice size car enthusiast crowd around here... Mostly imports, unless you go out to the sticks where they all have Mustangs and small block Chevys. I am originaly from Michigan too so I understand the weather situation up there, I love it though! I miss the snow, we mostly get ice storms down here. Hope this helps!

The weather down here is not bad at all. The problem is that this is such a transient area with the Govt and Armed services crew. You get a lot of people who are here for a few years and not used to rain. They should make people in this area take their drivers test in a snow or ice storm. As far as the car enthusast crowd, There are a few of us into cars. No VA is very conservative and uptight. The laws are very strict and the cops are on top of any car that even LOOKS fast. It makes it difficult to really enjoy driving. Glad to have you here. Where is Ft.Washington.

Ft. Lee is in the Petersburg/Richmond vicinity which is about 90 miles south of Wash DC.
VA has plenty of pro/amateur racing. These are the tracks I know of but there are more... The Winston cup and Busch Races come to RIR every year. There's the VA Motorsports Park in Dinwiddie outside of Petersburg where they have alot of NHRA competition.
In other parts of VA, theres NASCAR @ Martinsville. There's a lil 1/8 mile drag strip at Summerduck near Roanoke, VA. There's Old Dominion Ractrack up here in Manassas, VA.

Lento - Summerduck is not near Roanoke... Its off of Rt. 17 between Fredricksburg and Warrenton, out in the middle of nowhere. HARDLY near Roanoke!
