When its hot. It was like 97 degrees here in Tulsa yesterday so I went out to the track. I lost EVERY SINGLE RACE!! My signature 3rd gear pull; gone. Everyone I started to pull away from would pass me back at the end. My launch? Horrible. I couldn't even get out of the 16s. I see why people mention the temp and humidity when they talk about their times. It completely kills performance.

oh its so effing true, I can't stand it either...when the temp rises I just have to accept the fact that I'm rolling around on crutches, right?

and the heat shield I just installed worked no miracles either. frown

Not to mention having to shut of the AC first, otherwise you'll be slow as a civic...

Lost to two Civics. The heat didn't seem to be affecting his turbo either.

I ran a 15.2 @ 91 last summer in ~95 degree heat and high humidity... (01 Mustang GT against me ran 14.9)

IAT was reading around 140 at the line. eek Was reading 95 by 330'

It's all in how you setup your car to dissipate the heat & feed in cooler air. It's always going to be a problem. The engine bay stays hot nearly year round.

Use bags of ice on the manifold while you are staging, then remove from manifold right before run. I shaved .663 from doing this.

Try lighting you car before the race. Take the spare out, amps, subwoofers..blah blah...bring gas and run it near empty. If all else fails buy a 1992 ealge talon and sell your contour.

Like others pointed out it is not a drag car. If you want a drag car check out:

Here is one running a 12.65...

Alright...I don't think this post needs to be berated with "well then by a drag car" comments...keep in mind that it is frustrating! when you realize how much power you can lose to heat soak.
I don't want a drag car, I want my SVT, as I'm sure JellyBean does...I think it deserves the occasional vent when you realize that that signature 3rd gear pull is gone. Don't you?...and jeez that's just on the way home from work. laugh Just trying to lighten up the thread wink
