there has been talk on the Focus sites where alot of the guys on there with a MTX are launching at 4000rpm to me that is suicide for the tranny. Am I correct? I wouldn't do that woth out a LSD.

Its only a matter of time before a tooth will break/chip off of the diff gears, lock the diff gear and cause the diff to 'exit' via the side off the gearcase.Drag racing an MTX75 with the stoc diff is plain stupid...I rebuild transmissions daily and have welded up many 'air conditioned' gear cases...if you want to play I'd advise you pay,for a Quaife at least,Vs an expensive repair and a quaife...!I had many examples of diff/gear failure at the Spring Zing...'be scared..be very scared!!!!

I watched a guy with a brand new Cougar V6 (paper temp tags still) destroy his diff at the track in April. Massive burnout (stupid, well, ignorant is a better word), moved to staging lane, lights go green, he goes boom. Wrecker pulls him out and he's trailing ATF. I was chatting with a guy who used to own a Contour and we both knew exactly what had happened. By the time I ran and came back, I couldn't find him.
Did you know that the MTX-75 Quaife is the cheapest differential Quaife offers? Sucks for all the guys who bought it at $1295 or $895 (me), but good for anyone who doesn't have one. The hard part is finding someone that can actually install it (this is where I got lucky).
