I have a 98 SVT with 145,000 KM on the odometer. A while back I had it dynoed at 161.2HP and 147.7 lbs of torque. That was with the upper cleaned, new plugs and wires, a KKM and a pulled resonator.

I dynoed the car today and got 163.9HP and 149.1 lbs torque (looked like the graph got shifted up for both). The thing is I think I should be making more. I now have a modified stock Ypipe and I also removed the upper and lower manifolds and cleaned them. I even had a motorvac done. The plugs are new as well (wanted to be consistant).

The only thing that I noticed after the dyno was that my electric fan was on the whole time of the run. You see for some reason when its really raining hard, my fan comes on and doesnt stop until the car is dry. I know water is getting in somewhere but cant find out what harness. Also noticed that my heater control was set to the top dash vents and was on. Normally I wouldnt ask about that one but I notice that my RPM's drop a little at idle when its on that position so I assume there is load on the alternator.

So here is the question, would there be any powerloss that could be detected on the dyno if my electric fan was running as well as the heater? I know when an alternator has load, it takes a bit more power to turn. Could I have lost say 1HP or 2HP from that? I was hoping to make high 160's with the modded ypipe and cleaned lower intake.

Mind you I always try and keep the car in good tune so its not like it was running bad before...but still....

Any ideas. ??

PS. I've noticed that in the past few months the car had been more sensitive to bad gas and would start to ping a little at high RPM so after doing lots of reading, I switched to the colder '22 ford plugs and gapped them a bit closer. No more pinging but maybe the gap is to small? Stock is .054 right? I've got mine at .050 now.

Sounds like you had defrost on. This would turn on your ac compressor which would rob power. Sounds like you should make sure you just shut off everything or maybe just turn on the vents next time.
