Baseline with just colder plugs gapped @ 0.35 was 105 hp and 113 tq. On the bottle 165 hp & 215 ft lbs. Tq increased by 102 ft lbs @ the wheels! When I get it breathing, the hp figure should rise substantially. I was hoping for 210 wtq with the 3L. I cant believe I have already exceeded that figure with $250 spent....

So, what exactly did you take out (gutted)?

Have you ran it 1/4 mile yet? I am thinking 15.0-15.1......does that sound right? Good for a zetec!

No, no, she "should" be WELL into the 14's. It did 15.9 bone stock. With 60 more hp and 102 more ft lbs @ the wheels, most cars this weight will drop 1.5-2.0 seconds in the 1/4 mile. My SVT Contour weighed 600 lbs more, had only 7 more whp and 47 ft lbs less wtq and it ran 14.80's. So it whould whup up on that time pretty good. Plus, I have become a better driver since the days of the ol' CSVT. laugh

There is the key. A regular driver will break 14's but high's. But if you are a good driver I guess you should be pushing mid/low 14's. Run it and then tell us what you got.

14.80's with the bolt-ons I had (kkm, maf, udp, chip) was not to shabby back in the day. cool In fact its still pretty competitive. wink

That was with a wet kit. Nitrous works bottle, NOS fogger 1, 42N/36F, Holley 110 gph external/secondary fuel pump, 14 psi fuel line pressure. I dont not recommend this method. Go thru the fuel rail.

To make a long story short... My sponsor got out of the business and were not doing things fast enough for me, I was running out of money and throwing it into something that I never saw the fruits of. I brought the motor home to do it myself slowly overtime and found it financially best to sell the motor. In the midst of things, I added a quick fix nitrous kit to the zetec and am now hooked on modifying this 4cyl. My goal with the 3L was 240 whp, 210 wtq. Im only 8 shy of the torque figure now and I believe the hp number can be attained. In short, I think I can make it faster than my original plans with less money spent. I know the 3L would have been awesome and original, but the financial burden (and possible mechanical gremlins of such a swap) wouldnt have been worth it. Im going to take my time and have fun with this little car. I do miss the duratec every now and then, but enjoy the zetec as what it is. I hope to bring some other performance options to the ZETEC owners here as well. Im sticking around regardless. (Would like my fiance get a CSVT laugh wink )
