A made a few runs at the local dragstrip today. I think my car is low on horse power judging from my low trap speeds. My highest trap speed was 87.3 mph. But that was my slowest quarter with a 16.388. I only got down to a 15.889 @ 86.3. I just think that my car should run faster mph since it has headers. I am definitly going to clean out the intake runners at least.

Sounds like you just need to work on your shifting and maybe the launch.

I thought my launches were pretty decent with a 2200-2500 launch by slipping the clutch a little and getting a little wheel spin but does shifting hard and fast really make much of a difference. I just really dont want to break anything. My shifts were pretty quick just no power shifting or anything. So does the launch help with the trap speed a good deal?

shifting does make a huge time change. I shift so hard that I have broken 2 tranny mounts the shift housing and shattered the clutch. but with the up graded flywheel and clutch it grabs harder and faster. just try to take it easy on the down shifts, the up shift should be fine hard!

i went to the track yesterday too...i ran a 15.9 at 89 mph and a 15.84 at ???(damn guy was changing the paper in the printer) shifting harder does make a little difference. first run i launched at 2500 and was shifting a little easier than i should have. second run i launched a 3000 and was shifting harder. i'm running with everything on my sig. but the chip and exhuast...basically stock. have one question? another ceg'r told me that shifting from first to second around 5200 is better for our car. is this true...the way he put it makes a lot of sense. thanks.

I wouldnt think that shifting early in first would be faster because you would jump way below the power band in second. My second run I smoked the tires without realize how much they were spinning. My shift into second bogged down and I went a 16.3 but had my highest trap speed of 87.3 on that run which was a little weird.

If you launching below 3g's I see why!

I launch from a minimum of 3gs up to 3.5. Sliding the clutch quickly! I can't seem to break 90 though! My best is in my sig!
