Not bogging the engine.

Minimal wheelspin.

NO wheel hop.

The easiest is a quick slip from around 3000 rpm.

Like Demon said ... My best launch to date was from 3500, 20lbs in the tires, and no wheelspin/hop.

I agree here also. I launch around 3500 with about 18 psi in my drag radials. God I can`t wait for the warmer weather. wink

What size tires do you use on the front? Are they on the factory rims? I want to pick up a set for my 95 once it is complete, just wondering what works for you.

My best 60' is a 2.04 and that is with 32 lbs in my drag radials leaving at 5500 and no clutch slip or wheel spin. If you get good enough traction at 5500 the engine will still bog a little, I tried 6000 rpm and ended up spinning the tires. The only way to launch very well is with good tires but if you have a stock differential I wouldn't do it.

QUAIFE!!!

Oh... You mentioned something about that... wink

For the record I run with full air pressure. (35psi)
Less rolling resistance and the fact that lowering the pressure of "low profile street radial tires" is not going to help your contact patch any...

I a not sure the exact size of the dr`s, but they are the factory rims on the front and "skinnies" on the rear. I will find out and let you know.

Demon,
Do you use the stock g-force tires? If so how do you not spin off the line? I am usually racing on the street from a light and I spin through first. Launching at 3k to 3200 RPMs, this seems to give me the quickest launch though.
So any other thoughts on how to leave the line on the street with minimal tire spin?

I'm a little mean to my poor clutch.

A little slip my be great on a woman, but it's a bit hard on the clutch. wink

Yes wheel spin can be a problem, but bogging the engine is worse...

Actually launching from about 2500 is the easiest. Minimal spin, easily controllable and consistent 60' times even though not stellar (2.3 range)
Slipping from high rpm's will generate better times, but it's very easy to blow right through the tires.
Modulating the clutch & pedal is the way to launch a FWD (or cornering even)

I highly recommend the ES trans insert & filled motor mounts to help with drivetrain wind up and consistency...
I also recommend full air pressure. Rolling resistance is your enemy...
Dropping your air pressure will not help the tires hook up better. The fact it's FWD (no weight transfer), stiff sidewall (heck the KDW's are self supporting run flat - they'll never bow/ripple), and low profile street radials = no benefits...
