Have 99 SVT and at about 35K got the famous thump in the rear suspension over bumps. Did the search and saw all point to the rear sway bar. So I replaced the bar bushings and the end links(they did not look bad). No change what so ever. Anyone else run into rear suspension thumps on the SVT that was not the sway. This is an embarassing noise as everyone that rides in it asks--hey whats wrong with that rear suspension.

I have experienced the same sort of problem. I am not sure what it is. I haven't greesed the sway bar yet either, so it might be that. But that more creeks that thumps. Sorry I couldn't be of more help, but I do know what you are talking about.

I'm taking my car in tomarrow to ford frown . What should I suggest they fix. My rear supension just started making creeking noises and a thump sound when I corner hard or go over bumps. It sounds almost like something is in the trunk banging around, yet I have nothing in my trunk. Also there is a constant little squeak that I hear in the right rear whenever I go over bumps. Any suggestions.

At one point I think I remeber reading something about the potential of the brake cable being loose and slapping agains the underside of the car.
I will search and see if I can confrim this before I look like a moron. laugh

Thats right...checked the park brake cable...Even used a few more cable ties to make sure it is nice and snug. No change....Though I can not figure what bracket it is that they say to turn around.
