Help,

I am going to a shop to get the 24mm Aussie bar rewelded on. Should it be loaded or unloaded when the bad is tightened?

When I had it orginally welded before SZ2002, it was at a muffler shop where the car is driven onto the lift. Could that be the problem. The muffler guy welded it and I installed the bolts.

Would it be better to get the plates welded then go home and install the bar with jackstands on the side jacking points with the wheels hanging down?

20 lbs. of torque sound right for the bolts connecting the prothane clamps to the upgraded backing plates.

I have found that it is easier to hook up the endlinks if the car is on jackstands. I am small and flexible, so I can bend up under the car and lift it if no jackstands are available. Otherwise, it would make no difference if the car were on the ground or in the air when the Aussie Bar is installed.

The endlinks to the bar must NEVER be tightened with the suspension hanging, that is how the small bush gets torn up,must be on the ground for the bolt in the endliks. The bar clams can be tightened hanging....

Terry, can I just back up on ramps?

I think the reason why the bar tore out the welds in the first place was the jack stands installation.

The second installation was the correct way, but the rear suspension was already weakened.
