Hey, I have a question for all you sway bar experts out there, but I am in fear of my life right now. I will thank the Lord tomorrow if I wake up and have not been killed by a CEG member with a little not beside me saying....next time use the "Search" option.... frown Anyway, I just ordered the BAT rear sway bar for my 99 svt. As of now, there is a clunking in the rear and I hope to fix it and prevent it from happening again. Besides installing the bushings that come with the car, what else do I need to do? I gather that I will need to weld new backing plates on the car along with the bar, but I am not 100% sure. I asked this on the forums because I wanted a direct answer from the experts, and did not want to chance messing it up.

Try replacing the end links at the time of install. My car had the same prob. and when I installed my bar I found that the stock links were very worn ad loose fitting. I chose the Perf. Ford end-link kit. Very good fit and quality. Hope this helps.

Also you will want to install a reinfoceing plate kit at the same time. The plates must be welded to have proper effect. I did not weld mine and after one hard corner pulled the left mount off the floor pan. No problem since I had it repaired and the plates welded.

What is the diff between the reinforcement plate kid and the end link kit? The linds are quite pricy, is this necessary?

The Reinforcement kit is a metal bracket piggy backed to the metal mount used to hold the bar to the body of the car, this should be welded in. The end link kit is just rubber or polyurathane bushings that replace the stock ones, these are on the end of the bars connected to the suspension cross members! The clunk is more than likely from the bar pulling on the stock mounting bracket! A very commmon problem. GOod Luck!
