It's the same intake setup as all the Duratec's. The only difference is the SVT has the extrude honing inside the intake. Same injectors, same manifolds.

It very well could be the gaskets. I swapped my upper intake with an SVT one and disturbed the aged gaskets after reinstalling. Had to pay a ton of money to have new upper and lower gaskets put on. I proabably could have done them myself but I just let them go ahead. I don't know why they would be leaking on your car if no one has tried to remove the upper intake and your car is fairly new compared to mine. Oh and please don't give quotes on a 75 hp gain from the air conditioner mod buddy or people will ignore you. You don't even get that much power from a Vortech supercharger on these cars.

I'm sure he was kidding about the 75 hp gain. C'mon, what's that a 40% increase?

You may not have a problem with your intake manifold gaskets. I had a the same diagnosis and it ended up being a small crack in one of the vacuume hoses. I would check them before you shell out the $$$ for new gaskets.

I saw a sign at my local Autozone which says something to the effect of "Check engine light on? We have a scanner and can tell you why!"

I don't know why people are replying to this message now when the problem occurred last year - but I appreciate it anyway.

I had the Ford dealer reset the check engine light and it never came on again. I kinda knew that they were full of crap because if my intake manifold gaskets were leaking, I would have noticed something besides a light on the dash.

Thanks - Dave

Sorry for the late post. You never posted saying that it was fixed. BTW to reset the CEL you only need to disconnect the battery neg cable for about 10 min and then reconnect. I hope they didn't charge you for that.

an easy way to check if the intake is leaking is to take a can of cab cleaner and sprsy around the intake runners and see if the idle gets irratic. this thing has got to have a fairly big leak if the check engine light is on and the carb cleaner should be able to pick it up
